The Science Academy at Bellsbank PS started on Wednesday 20th January and runs for six weeks. The Academy comprised of 15 senior pupils whom the school selected as those that they deemed would benefit most from it. During that time the pupils were given talks and presentations on various aspects of science from Danny Gorman of KESS(forces and matter), Kayleigh Moffat of Doon Academy (light and waves), Mark Klimek of Tuopeek (electricity and magnetism), Uli Doepner of KESS(biology)and Graham Longbottom, Alex Baille and John Sharpe of KESS and the Ayrshire Astronomical Society (astronomy). These talks and presentations have really interested and improved the scientific knowledge of the pupils and, more importantly, encouraged them to think deep about all the science and engineering that they see around them.
